2009 is Charles Darwin Year

In 2009, there are two Charles Darwin anniversaries to celebrate: February 12th marks the bicentennial of his birthday. On November 14th, 1859, exactly 150 years ago, his revolutionary book “The Origin of Species” was first published.

The Department of Biology at the TU Dortmund, along with many other institutions, have organized a variety of events as a tribute to Charles Darwin’s outstanding achievements. On the following pages, you will find a variety of events and activities organized both by our department and other institutions concerned with the life and work of Charles Darwin.
